How do I enter?

Who can enter?

There are two categories for entry; Professional and Emerging. The professional category invites entrants from companies actively working in the metals industry in New Zealand (including but not limited to steel fabricators, sheet metal workers and general engineering companies). Submissions can be either individual or firm entries

The emerging category is for engineering students and emerging designers within four years of graduation.

What file format do I need to submit my design in?

Design and 3D Modelling can be in most 3D software, such as Blender, Rhino, 3D Studio Max, Maya, or in Solid Modelling software such as Inventor, Solid Works. For more information on file type and submission requirements please see our entry page click here

How do I submit the files?

Please save your file to a cloud based service such as Dropbox, One Cloud or Google Docs - you will need to paste the url into the entry form for us to download the file after you submit your entry.

How many entries can I make?

You can submit a maximum of 2 separate entries – one for each of the design brief categories. Read the full design brief click here

Can I enter both categories (Form and Function)?

What materials can I use?

Each design should be for a piece of sculptural artwork that utilizes only metal. Read the full design brief click here

How will the final designs be chosen?

A selection of entries will be chosen by our judge, James Wright, and will be rendered for inclusion in the Art In Structure virtual sculpture park (during the Metals Week conference, Auckland 1-3 September, and then regionally until 15 December 2015). How will the winning designs be chosen?

The winning entries will be selected by tally of public voting during the exhibition period and the end of 2015 during regional promotions. For more details please see our full terms and condition click here

If a design is drawn can we accept it in this format?

Unfortunately not, we do need a CAD drawing to the specification given.

Will Easysteel provide materials for the sculpture to be made?

To enter you only need to submit a CAD drawing of the sculpture. The two winning entries will be fabricated at Easysteel's cost and all material will be supplied.

Can I see an example of AR in action?

Yes - our demonstration app is up and running on the Apple store and Google Play store. Click the links below to download to your tablet or phone. These work best on a tablet. To see the demo model you need to point the app at one of the printed invitations. If you have not received one then please email: info@artinstructure.nz and we will mail out a printed invitation to allow you to see the demo model.
